Poplin Pursuits: Goals for January 2024

Happy New Year! What a complete time, blackhole, the last couple of months have been. But! That was 2023 – Welcome to the year 2024—the year of intention, acceptance, and strength. As we enter the month of January, it’s the perfect time to set some goals. This is our monthly goal check-in, and these are our goals for January 2024. Come along with us and set your own goals!

Hey, what’s up, I’m Ashley Poplin. My husband, Alex, and I decided we were tired of living in the societal matrix. We quit our jobs and moved to our dream location in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia. Now, we pursue knowledge and excellence in everything we do. Come along with us and enjoy our Poplin Pursuits.

Read at least one book a week:

Reading is an excellent way to expand your knowledge and gain new perspectives. Set a goal to read at least one book a week, whether a classic novel or a non-fiction book on a topic you’re interested in. Expand your mind.

We’ve got our four picked out and will drop those reviews later.

Hoping to get through:

Learn a new skill:

Challenge yourself to learn a new skill this month. It could be something as simple as learning how to cook a new dish or something more complex like learning a new language.

The skill I want to focus on this month is intention. There’s been a trend for a while about “intentional living” or action with intention. I’ve always glossed over it, but this month, I want to really dive into it.

We’re exploring new techniques and styles for intentional living to share with you all soon.

Refine a skill you already know:

New skills are fun, but what about that activity you picked up a month ago? Let’s hone in on refining a skill you enjoy that you last did a while ago.

Mine is reading.

I used to read three books a week. It’s what I majored in for my BA and something I used to love to do before I became addicted to working.

So this month, I want to read and be better at being still. If I can get through 4 books, I feel like I’ve hit my goals.

Attend an event you’ll enjoy:

Make it a goal to attend at least one event this month that you will enjoy and want to attend.

After the holiday season we had… I’m anti-event this month! However, I understand the premise of this goal, so we decided to start a new Dnd campaign with our neighbor. I’m going to say that is my event.

Gratitude Journal Prompts for the month:

Practicing gratitude is an excellent way to improve your mental health and overall well-being. Start a gratitude journal and write down three things you’re grateful for daily.

Our January Gratitude Prompt is:

Today, I make time to consider my dreams and desires during my busy day. What can you contribute to your home today that intentionally puts you in a better head space?

The January 2024 Affirmation is:

I look forward to the year ahead with a heart full of love and gratitude.

Our January Focus of the Month is:

Intention. We want to focus on improving our intentions in our lives. That’s with ourselves, our partners, our family, our coworkers, our home. Take time to notice how you handle tasks. Journal it!

For the Pursuit of our goals in January 2024:

You’ll become more knowledgeable and excellent by setting and working towards these goals. Remember to break down your goals into smaller, more manageable tasks.

We Love these manageable tasks, and hope to build upon this list in the future. We hope you enjoy and participate with us.
